Introducing the Kinesis Freestyle Pro Mechanical/Programmable keyboard. The FS Pro offers the same ergonomic features as the Freestyle2 but the additional benefits of full programmability and Cherry MX brown low-force, tactile mechanical key switches. Compatible with both PC and Mac operating systems.

ERGONOMIC FEATURES

NEW Cherry MX brown mechanical key switches

The Freestyle Pro utilizes the Cherry MX low-force tactile switch (brown stem). It is a semi-custom low force tactile design created in 1992 to Kinesis’ specifications. “Tactility” is a slightly elevated force around the midpoint of the stroke of the key which lets you know the switch is about to be activated. A tactile response is preferred by many ergonomists, because it cues your fingers that activation is about to occur and is thought to reduce the likelihood or incidence or “bottoming out” the switch with a hard impact. The peak (tactile) force is ~55gm, following by an activation force of ~45 gm.

NEW adjustable linking cable – separates keying modules up to 20 inches

The two key modules are connected by a 20 inch linking cable that can be adjusted to suit your preferences and body type. The basic configuration allows up to 12 inches of separation. If you need additional separation, simply remove the cable compartment cover located on the back of the left key module and thread out more of the stored cable until you find your desired width.

Zero degree slope form factor

As with the Freestyle2 the FS Pro retains a zero degree slope from front to back. Most keyboards including ergonomic models have a 10 degree positive slope. These designs tend to bend your wrists. The FS Pro’s zero degree slope decreases the height, effectively creating negative slope and reducing wrist extension.

Optional tenting accessories

For people that are experiencing forearm discomfort two tenting accessories are available to reduce forearm pronation. The VIP3 Pro (with palm supports) and V3 Pro (without palm supports) attach easily to the underside of the Pro keyboard providing 3 easily adjustable slope settings of 5, 10 and 15 degrees.

Optional palm supports

Optional palm supports with replaceable cushioned palm pads reduce wrist extension by keeping wrists neutral.

Hot keys

The Freestyle Pro features eight pre-programmed hotkeys (Desktop, Last App, Select All, Undo, Cut, Delete, Copy & Paste) designed to reduce mouse clicks and awkward key combinations.

PROGRAMMING FEATURES 

The fully programmable Freestyle Pro features Kinesis’s all-new SmartSet^TM Programming Engine that allows you to customize the keyboard’s layout without installing any clunky software or special drivers, or accessing the internet. Record macros, remap keys, and much, much more. SmartSet works on all major operating systems and enables users to easily create, view, edit, share, and backup their custom layouts. And thanks to 4MB of built-in storage, all of your custom setting move with the keyboard.

9 Layouts with 2 layers each

The Freestyle Pro comes out the box with 3 factory pre-configured layouts for Windows, Mac, and Windows Dvorak. 6 additional layouts are available to create your own custom layout, and if you need more than 6 substitute any of 3 pre-configured layouts for your own.

Note: 4 Mac legended key caps and keycap puller are included.

Macros

Macros are great for eliminating awkward key combinations or repetitive key strokes. Each layout can store 24 macros, each up to 300 characters long while choosing between 9 different playback speeds.

Key remapping

Remap any of the 95 keys with a touch of button. Create custom layouts or remap a key to offload work from an overused hand or finger.

Prefer a graphical interface for custom programming? The SmartSet App lives on your keyboard so it never gets installed on your computer.
